This was a project I did basically during the pandemic. I started writing a poem a day. Once ‘real life’ started again it got harder to write everyday, which is interesting.
doubt creeps in
doubt creeps in
holds your hand
makes you question
what you’d planned
pulls you down
into the dark
dims your light
dampens your spark
ideas once
seemed to glow
now concern
is all you know
time to dig
inside so deep
turn from doubt
and courage keep
take courage now
the day relents
the light gives in
the night draws close
the dark begins
for those attuned
to thick black air
slink through the gloom
with flat cold stare
for those who come
unprepared
take courage now
and say a prayer
on the edge
on the edge
of something new
look ahead
what will you do?
walk a path
not seen before
enter through
a newfound door
stay alert
your courage hold
you might find
a vein of gold
