This was a project I did basically during the pandemic. I started writing a poem a day. Once ‘real life’ started again it got harder to write everyday, which is interesting.

Peter the Bee in Summer!

Peter the Bee
Is something to see
He flies all around
But he doesn’t sting me!

He seems to like flowers
Of orange and of pink
He doesn’t like yellow
Why do you think?

This is his time
The heat he likes best
He buzzes all day
Seems to not need much rest!

I still wonder a lot
About where he does go
When the sun fades away
And the moon makes its glow

Does dear old Peter
Have a mom and a dad?
No matter his family
I hope they’re all glad!

To write about Peter
Brings me great joy
A real funny question -
Is he even a boy??

Waiting for Peter the Bee

What happened to Peter the Bee?
We met him but now where is he?

The weather turned colder, they all went inside.
A bee surely needs warmth, in cold weather they hide.

I am sure soon enough Peter will be
out for adventures and then we will see.

For now we just wait, the flowers will come
and then Peter Bee’s song surely will hum.

Let’s Meet Peter

it is time to meet a new small friend
let us call him Peter
he needs something fun to do
to rhyme with his name? ... eater?

Peter is a bee
he lives in that there hive
he loves to buzz around the yard
it makes him feel alive

his favorite kind of flower
the one he eats the most
is lovely luscious lavender
his most beloved host

we will follow Peter
as time goes along
it will be good to know him
to learn his Peter Bee Song
