This was a project I did basically during the pandemic. I started writing a poem a day. Once ‘real life’ started again it got harder to write everyday, which is interesting.

I have started to edit some of these mostly the kids poetry. I think there might be enough here for a book. We shall see.

I make no claim that much of this is “good” poetry. But I do make the claim that I loved doing it and I learned something and some of it makes me cry.

springtime, outside Kimberly LeClair springtime, outside Kimberly LeClair

sneeze and sneeze

before my eyes
outside does wake
a flood of green
will overtake
the air soon filled
with scent and breeze
I do prepare
to sneeze and sneeze!

soft not seizing

should we force
what won’t come easy?
would giving way
be much more pleasing?
could we bend
without getting queasy?
might reach our end
through soft not seizing?

hope’s string

another Monday
another week
at future’s edge
we all do peek
none of us know
what time will bring
another leap
holding hope’s string

reset the clocks

Oh! I woke up
to a twisting of time
my phone re-adjusted
what did not was my mind
the light feels so different
It can’t be that late!
I can reset the clocks
on my brain, I must wait!

a box of silly

unwrap a box of silly
pour it on the ground
pick out the parts you love the most
your smile will be found!

what’s in your box of silly?
what do you love the most?
for me I like the silly rhymes
like roast and boast and toast!

maybe you like tickles
or games like hide and seek
if you play that one with friends
make sure that they don’t peek!

keep a box of silly
always on your shelf
open it and have some fun
with laughs you make yourself!

the world around

hard to know
to find true words
the world around
seems so absurd

one thing I think…
feels true to me…
I don’t know
what others see…

we have to hold
each other tight
in light of day
in dark of night

the world around
can seem wrong
we do our best
when we belong

my deep wish
they can still smile
keep holding hope
