This was a project I did basically during the pandemic. I started writing a poem a day. Once ‘real life’ started again it got harder to write everyday, which is interesting.
in the deep winter
in the deep winter
the sun hangs his head
shadows grow stronger
all things look dead
brightness surrounds
but the light has no strength
been worn out, grown tired
stretched too far lengths
closing doors
here comes the wind
still no snow
dark again
it’s winter, no?
as it seems
all things will change
the mind must shift
and rearrange
what was once
is no more
we must adjust
to closing doors
words people days stuff
words people days stuff
all can have a weight
we pile on the meaning
make it do or die
that rarely is the truth at all
no matter what we say
words people days stuff
it all just glides on by
rushing ‘round
rushing ‘round
moving fast
this here pace
it can’t last
oh I wish
for some slow
until then
have to go!
Frustration
The feeling of frustration
Is one I don’t much like
Sensation like the water
Behind a dam or dike
The pressure keeps on building
Pushing ever more
The water can’t keep flowing
No waves upon the shore
Finally something happens
The bubble, it will burst
But until that happens
That feeling, it’s the worst!
Weather Report
Today it is a gray day
Won’t be very bright
Sometimes a day’s lighting
Fits your mood just right
You feel very happy
The day is filled with sun
Wild wind and warm temps
You feel like having fun
Rain falling heavy
Your heart is filled with grief
But when there is a mismatch
Nature feels the thief
You are feeling joyful
But the sky is filled with storms
You want to have a good cry
But it’s sunny breezy warm
The sunlight feels annoying
So you crawl into your bed
You wish it was a gray day
Like this one now, instead
Autumn is Coming
End of August
Here we go
Autumn is coming
Footballs to throw
Leaves to rake
Sweaters to wear
Pumpkin to bake
Haunted house, do you dare?
Let’s hope this year
Is better than last
I’m not encouraged
Wear your mask!
This time of year
Is my favorite of all
I may write
Many praises for fall 🍂
Still Stings
I said I would write
One everyday
And in the beginning
It all felt like play
Now that I’ve missed
That one silly time
I find a temptation
To stop the whole climb
Give up and stop
End the whole thing
I debate everyday
That blip, it still stings
welcome (2)
another morning
burning bright
the sky, once dark,
now filled with light
another day
the future wide
a welcome mat
says come inside
enjoy yourself
weekend’s over
monday’s here
no time for fighting
no frowns or tears
instead dig in
enjoy your work
wear a smile
don’t be a jerk
this day, like all
is a true gift
remember that
feel the lift
dive right in
to this here day
enjoy yourself
share, love, and play!
cleaning cleaning
dishes
bathrooms
floors and pans
things need cleaning
some by hand
seems that once
I clean a thing
the dirt returns
just like a spring
no matter what
it’s Never Done
cleaning cleaning
Never Fun!!
dog sitting
two dogs
snoring
two dogs
barking
two dogs
begging
two dogs
marking
two dogs
walking
two dogs
sitting
two dogs
shedding
two dogs
sh*tting
😳
whirring and stirring
art on the street
right under my feet
friend at my side
so happy to meet
life keeps on whirring
and stirring along
fine to feel moments
I’m where I belong
